Somerville Train Station Project Update Photos - January 2011

 

The $16 million dollar project consist of two new 710 foot high-level side platforms with canopies, 2 new elevator cabs with machine rooms, new inbound waiting room with restrooms, new outbound platform waiting room, new platform shelters, new platform ramps and stairs, new communication and electrical rooms, new storage/janitor spaces, new accessible path of travel (sidewalk) towards South Bridge Street, and an alteration to the inbound pedestrian tunnel entrance.  Rehabilitation work involves the two existing freight elevator shafts, pedestrian tunnel (lighting and drainage improvements), and a pair of exterior stairs which lead to South Bridge Street.
