Building Division
This division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Uniform Construction Code (UCC). The UCC dictates what building codes are to be used in the design and construction of new buildings, additions, alterations, reconstructions, etc of residential and non residential structures. This division issues construction permits and conducts the necessary inspections to verify the work performed is to the codes.
To schedule an inspection please call (908) 725-2300 x 1965 and have the permit number, address and block/lot of the property, and the type of inspection being requested available. Do not leave a message on the voicemail system to schedule the inspections, instead leave your contact information and your call will be returned to schedule the inspection.

Code Enforcement Division
This division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Borough’s property maintenance code and the land use and development ordinance (zoning ordinance).

Planning Board & Zoning Board of Adjustment
The Department of Community Development is also responsible for the administration of all applications for development which require municipal approvals such as subdivisions, site plans, and variances.
