Redevelopment Projects

East End
The East End of the Borough, that is the areas roughly bounded by South Bridge Street, Veterans Memorial Highway, and Main Street, has been determined to be “an area in need of redevelopment”. This area is a mix of older residential and commercial establishments with a number of vacant lots thrown in the mix.
Traffic and parking are problems for existing residents, who constantly have to combat heavy commercial and through traffic.

The eventual redevelopment of this area will eliminate the eyesores that currently dot the area, consolidate the residential areas, and create new residential and commercial units that will reinvigorate this end of the Borough. Some years ago a Redevelopment Plan was created for this area, but never adopted by the Borough as it did not take into account the many and varied uses currently active within this compact area of town.

We will be asking the Planning Board to reexamine this plan and to provide us with revisions and alternative uses to it this year. We are current seeking grants to fund this important reexamination.

When complete, the revised plan will be presented in a series of public meetings which once again allows residents and business people to work with the Planning Board and Redevelopment Committee in creating a plan that benefits the Borough and contributes to the well being of the community.
