Coming Soon! Carol Pager Park inclusive playground

Exciting news for local families! Construction is officially underway on a brand-new inclusive playground at Carol Pager Park, located on 100 Green Street. Work began on Monday, June 2 and the playground is set to open this July. The playground features a poured in rubber surface and calm colored components that are designed to create a sense of serenity.

“This playground is a space where children of all abilities can learn, play and grow together,” said Kathy Gerndt, Recreation Director. “We hope this space will increase community engagement and social interaction for all  families in the Somerville area.”

The Borough Council awarded a $206,502 contract to Picerno-Giordano Construction, of Kenilworth, on November 4, 2024. The project was partially funded by a $150,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Borough contributed $35,000. The remaining balance, approximately $25,000, was funded by the Somerville Recreation Trust Fund with proceeds from the annual Somerville 5K Turkey Trot events.

We built a similar inclusive playground at Walck Park in August 2024.
