The Mayor and Council invite you to the groundbreaking ceremony to memorialize the start of the Somerville Landfill Green Seam restoration project.
This will take place on Saturday June 4th at 10:00 AM at the rear of Sarah Janes restaurant on Rt 206 North in Somerville.
The Green Seam restoration is the first step in returning the former borough landfill to productivity.
When complete this portion of the project will have created approximately 12 acres of unusable land to use as a public open space with public access paths for everyone to enjoy, all within a 5 minute walk of the Somerville Railway Station and Main Street.
This phase of the Landfill restoration has been made possible through working with the NJ DEP to obtain grants totaling $12.2 million and a very low interest loan from the NJ Environmental Infrastructure Trust.
We look forward to seeing you on June the 4th.
