4/23/2022 - Earth Day & Town Swap Weekend Activities

Clean Up & Tree Planting

DATE: Saturday, April 23
START TIME: 9 AM
MEETING LOCATION: Somerville High School Parking Lot

We're celebrating Earth Day by planting trees along the banks of Peter's Brook and removing litter and debris from the borough's parks, brooks and other public areas. 

Community groups, youth groups, scouts, families and friends are encouraged to volunteer!

  • Registration is not required
  • Work gloves, trash bags and refreshments will be provided
  • Tree seedlings, maps and instructions will be provided
  • Please bring your own shovels and rakes (if planting)
  • Volunteers will receive free t-shirts and reusable tote bags

This event is sponsored by the Somerville Environmental Commission and Public Works Department.

 

Somerville Town Swap Weekend
The Borough has endorsed this Girl Scouts project to help Somerville residents give away unwanted items in a sustainable way.

DATES: Friday, April 22 - Sunday, April 24

HOW IT WORKS: Place FREE, usable items in front of your residence for others to take over the weekend.

This project is hosted by Sew Sustainably (Bridget Lacerda's Girl Scout Gold Award Project) and the Environmental Commission.
