Canvassers from the Somerset County Department of Human Services will be knocking on doors in Somerville, daily, from 1 to 6 pm, starting on Monday, April 15 April 22. They are part of a two-year outreach program to connect all Somerset County residents to service programs, including:
- addiction resources
- mental health resources
- food assistance
- services for seniors (60+), adults with disabilities, and their caregivers
About the Outreach Team
The Community Outreach Team will wear reflective vests and identification badges. They will provide informational materials and step-by-step assistance with the application process. The canvassers were trained to respect the privacy of residents, while offering resources in a compassionate and non-intrusive manner.
The team will start knocking on doors in the Southside, Brookside and Kirby areas of Somerville on Monday, April 21. They plan to connect with most households in the borough over the next two years.
