PSE&G will begin scheduled work on Division Street on Wednesday, January 7. This work includes saw cutting and preparation for the installation of a new gas main. Pedestrian access will be limited during daytime work hours.
Beginning Monday, January 12, night crews will start saw cutting and installing the gas main on W. Main Street at the intersection of Maple Street.
- Work on West Main Street will take place primarily overnight, from 8 pm to 5 am.
- West Main Street will be closed between North Bridge Street and Doughty Avenue during overnight work hours.
- Traffic will be detoured via Veterans Memorial Drive and West High Street.
About this project
This work is part of the gas construction project that began in March 2023 to replace aging cast iron gas pipes throughout Somerville. Construction will continue through March and all work is expected to be completed by May 2026.
