Infants, toddlers, and pre-school
Preschool Storytime
An interactive program that fosters early literacy skills through books, songs, and activities. This program is for ages 3 to 5 years, with a caregiver.

Stuffie Sleepover
Leave your favorite stuffie for a sleepover and adventure at the library. Library staff will take great care of them and prepare a special surprise to send home.

A science activity for elementary school aged children. Activities and supplies will vary, so dress for mess. Caregivers should plan to remain in the building to assist.

Teen Leadership Committee
Earn community service hours by helping to plan and organize upcoming programs for teens and assist with ongoing projects at the Children’s Department. This committee is for students in grades 7 to 12.

Practice speaking English in a friendly setting. Intermediate English skills are required. Hosted by SCLSNJ staff in partnership with the Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County.

It Came From The Library – Horror Film Fest Series
Cult, classic, and contemporary horror films on our large screen, just in time for Halloween. Appearances by the library’s resident ghosts are possible, but not guaranteed!

- October 2 – Carnival of Souls: After a traumatic accident, a woman becomes drawn to a mysterious abandoned carnival
- October 9 – H.P. Lovecraft’s The Color Out Of Space: A boy, looking for his missing father, travels to Germany and uncovers a haunting legacy that a meteorite left behind in the area. Based on H.P. Lovecraft’s short novel “The Color Out Of Space.”
- October 23 – The Most Dangerous Game: A psychotic big game hunter deliberately strands a luxury yacht on a remote island, where he begins to hunt its passengers for sport.
- October 30 – Thelma: A college student starts to experience extreme seizures while studying at a university In Oslo, Norway. She soon learns that the violent episodes are a symptom of inexplicable, and often dangerous, supernatural abilities.
