Christmas tree drop-off and recycling

Somerville residents may drop off Christmas trees beginning January 2, 2026, weather permitting. The Public Works Department will accept trees through January 30, 2026.

Residents who need special assistance may request curbside pickup. Please call 908-698-1643.

Somerset County recycling program

The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting natural Christmas trees for recycling through Saturday, January 31, 2026. The trees will be chipped into wood-chip mulch and used throughout the park system to mulch plantings.

Drop-off locations

Somerset County residents may drop off trees from 8 am to 4 pm, 7 days a week, at:

  • North Branch Park, lighted baseball field (355 Milltown Road, Bridgewater)
  • Colonial Park Gardens, parking lot F (156 Mettlers Road, Franklin Township)

Guidelines

  • Each family is limited to only one tree that must be free of all ornaments, wires, netting, and tinsel.
  • Only natural trees will be accepted.
  • Wreaths and garland will not be accepted as these items cannot be recycled.
  • Deliveries from groups or dealers will be rejected.
