Health

The Vital Statistics office at Borough Hall processes all health permit applications and fees.

All other health services have been transferred to the Somerset County Department of Health. They are responsible for health inspections, complaints, enforcement andpublic health education.

Health permits and licenses

Vending machines

To operate a food or beverage vending machine, you must:

1. Complete the Food/Beverage Vending Machine permit application form
2. Note the required fee on the application form and make a check payable to the Somerville Division of Health
3. Mail the application form and fee to: Somerville Division of Health, 25 West End Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876

Public pools

Prior to opening a public pool, you must:

1. Complete the Recreational Bathing permit application form
2. Pay a $50 application fee per bathing facility. Make check payable to the Somerville Division of Health
3. Mail the application form and fee to: Somerville Division of Health, 25 West End Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876

Food permit

To setup a retail food establishment, for up to 14 days, at an event:

1. Review the guidelines in the Temporary Food Establishment permit application packet.
2. Complete the application form (pages 2 and 3) and pay the $50 application fee
3. Mail the application form and fee, at least 10 days prior to the event, to: Somerville Division of Health, 25 West End Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876
