Thanksgiving Advisory: Expect temporary road closures  on Thursday, 8:45 to 10 am, for the Somerville 5K Turkey Trot. Borough Hall and the Library will be closed Thursday and Friday for the holiday. Garbage collection is suspended Thursday and will resume with an extra pickup on Friday.

Somerville Civic Center

The Civic Center serves as the state-of-the-art meeting place for the Borough Council and the municipal boards and committees.

Location

  • 24 Robeson Street
  • The Civic Center is located in the Avalon Somerville Station apartment community, next to the Somerville train station.
  • The entrance is in the main plaza, off Robeson Street

Parking

  • Robeson Street: Free parking
  • Somerville Station garage: $5 daily parking fee
  • Veterans Memorial Drive: Free parking after 6 pm. Follow signs to walk south under the train tracks and to the plaza. The Civic Center entrance is in the plaza.

  • Free, public WiFi is available

Meetings and events

The Borough's boards, committees and commissions meet in the Civic Center. The space will be available for non-municipal use as soon as regulations, rental agreements and fees are finalized.

About the Civic Center

The 4,000 square-foot Civic Center was built by AvalonBay. The developer donated the space and associated building costs and extended a 99-year lease to the Borough. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on September 27 and the Borough Council first met in the new space on October 2, 2023.
