About

Tennis Pro Mike Watson and his staff are the most distinguished coaches in the area and have been coaching tennis for over 25 years. Watson is director of one of the largest tennis training programs in Central New Jersey, with 600 students. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) sanctioned the Watson Classic biannual tournament in his name, after countless students went on to distinguished playing careers at the collegiate level. The USTA also named Watson the 2002-2003 Coach of the Year for the middle states.

2023 Schedule

  • Dates: May 31, June 7, 14, 21 and 28 (5 Wednesdays)
  • Grades K to 2: 4 to 4:55pm (max 12 students)
  • Grades 3 to 4: 5 to 5:55 pm (max 12 students)
  • Grades 5 to 6: 6 to 6:55 pm (max 6 students)
  • Location: Henry P. Vander Veer Memorial Park (122 Veterans Memorial Drive East)

2023 Registration

  • Deadline: Registrations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis
  • Cost: $90 for five week session (non-refundable)

  • Register by mail: Send a registration form and check (payable to Somerville Recreation) to 25 West End Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876.
  • Note: Somerville Recreation reserves the right to limit registrations and, if necessary, cancel, alter and/or supplement programs. In the event a class is cancelled due to weather, or reasons beyond our control, all efforts will be made to reschedule the class. If it is not possible to reschedule a class,  refunds will not be issued.
