If you want to have a block party in your neighborhood, you need a block party road closure permit.
Need to know
- There is no cost to get this permit
- You should apply at least 2 weeks before your event
Before you start
You will need to notify all residents who will be affected by the closure. You can do this by going door to door or sending a notification in the mail.
In the application, you'll need to let us know the sections of the streets you want to be closed. For example, "N Clark Ave between Putnam and Madison."
- Complete and sign the online application form.
- Submit the form electronically.
We will reach out to you with any questions and let you know if your request is approved.
We will drop off barricades at your address within 72 hours of the event. You are responsible for placing and removing the barricades.
Do not place any objects in the center of the road that could delay emergency access. If there's an emergency, call 911 immediately and make sure emergency responders can access the area.
If any residents need to exit or enter the roadway, you cannot deny them access.
