Recreation activities are offered year-round.

To register for a recreation program, visit https://register.communitypass.net/somerville. You may also register by mail. To register in person, please call (908) 704-6985 to schedule an appointment.

The Somerville Recreation Department offers activities year-round for children of all ages.

These community organizations also offer programs for kids in Somerville.

The Rescue Squad provides First Aid and CPR training courses.

The Rescue Squad provides medical transport to or from the hospital.

We have 3 pickleball courts open for public use. They are first come, first serve, and cannot be reserved for private or commercial use.

Hours: Open daily, until 10 pm (lights turn off automatically)

If your garbage was not picked up on it’s scheduled day, it might be because:

  • Container weighed over 35 lbs
  • More than 4 containers were placed at the curb
  • Leaves, branches, or yard waste were in the container
  • Recyclable materials were in the container
  • It’s a holiday
  • Poor weather conditions

To dispose of latex paint

  • Mix equal parts kitty litter with old latex paint
  • Wait for the kitty litter to absorb the paint
  • Place the can of dried paint in the regular trash

The Somerset County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program gives residents a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household items that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash.

You often need a zoning permit before you can get a construction permit for your project. The zoning permit makes sure your project complies with development rules and standards.
