Thanksgiving Advisory: Expect temporary road closures  on Thursday, 8:45 to 10 am, for the Somerville 5K Turkey Trot. Borough Hall and the Library will be closed Thursday and Friday for the holiday. Garbage collection is suspended Thursday and will resume with an extra pickup on Friday.

Construction and zoning permits

We issue permits to make sure construction and development in Somerville is safe and compliant. Most construction projects and repairs require permits. Before you can get a construction permit, you often need a zoning permit first.

You will always need to submit a construction permit application. Based on the project, you may need to complete multiple application forms.
