Leaf collection

From October to December, we provide options for leaf pickup and collection. This will help us keep storm drains clear and prevent flooding. Brush pickup is suspended during leaf season.

How to manage your leaves

2025 Schedule

Leaf pickup season begins Monday, October 27. You have three options for leaf disposal.

Option 1 Option 2 Option 3

  • Bring them to the DPW dumpster at 32 5th Street.
  • Open Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
  • Rake loose leaves to the curbline (not on the sidewalk or road).
  • Keep leaves away from storm drains to prevent flooding.
  • Vacuum trucks will make at least 3 rounds of pickup, following the chipper route.
  • Crews start at the edge of town and move toward the center.
  • Each round takes about 2 to 3 weeks, weather permitting.
  • Vacuum trucks will collect loose leaves from October 27 until December 6.

Leaf composting

Composting reduces the amount of waste we have to transport to the landfill. It also reduces costs and benefits the environment. Learn how to compost at home.

Safety tips

  • Do not block catch basins or storm drains (metal grates on the street), which help prevent flooding.
  • Keep leaves away from gutters and drainpipes to avoid blocking the free flow of water.
  • Do not pile leaves near intersection corners. This causes sight issues for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
  • Do not pile leaves around mailboxes, power poles, fences, fire hydrants, basketball hoops or other obstacles.
  • Do not park vehicles on or near leaves. The heat from a vehicle exhaust system could start a fire.

Prohibited debris

These items will not be collected because they may clog and damage the equipment:

  • Branches, sticks, and rocks
  • Grass clippings
  • Ornamental grasses
  • Flower potting material
  • Pumpkins and gourds
